Rev. Samuel Elsdale (1780 - 13 July 1827) was an English poet and clergyman.
Life[]
Youth and education[]
Elsdale was 1 of 2 sons of Ann (Gibbins) and Robinson Ellsdale, a retired privateer, of Surfleet in Lincolnshire.[1]
He attended Lincoln College, Oxford, earning a B.A. in 1803 and an M.A. in 1809.[1] He became a fellow of the college in 1803.[2]
Career[]
He became master of Moulton grammar school. He was a frequent contributor to magazines.[1] His only collection of poems was reprinted twice.[2]
