Trish M. Shields is a Canadian poet and novelist.[1]
Life[]
Shields was born in Saskatchewan and grew up in Europe. She studied creative writing at the Algonquin School of Fine Arts in Ottawa.[2]
Her poetry has appeared in numerous literary magazines, including Amaze: The Cinquain Journal, Connections, PFlag Canada, Moonset, Quills Canadian Poetry Magazine, Ribbons: Tanka Society of America journal, Taj Mahal Review, Weird Sisters West Magazine, and anthologies, including Agua Terra, Anthology Three, Myth Weavers: Canadian Myths and Legends, Boomerang, Hurricane Anthology: Washing the color of water golden, The Future Looks Bright, Book One, Elan: A Regina Weese collection, Sharing the Dark: Encounters with The abyss, Infinite Pleasures, No Love Lost 3, Oval Victory, and A Time of Trial.[2]
Shields is the British Columbia chairperson for the Canadian Poetry Association and an associate member of the League of Canadian Poets, Canada-Cuba Literary Alliance, and Canadian Federation of Poets.[3] She is the page manager for Just About Write's Lesbian Poet Herstory.[4]
Shields is the parent of 3 children, two girls and a boy. She lives on Vancouver Island with her spouse and children.[5]
Recognition[]
Her first poetry collection, Soul Speak, was nominated for a Lambda Literary Award.[1]
She won the Sakura Award for haiku at the 2008 Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival.[2]
