Evan Jones (born 1973) is a Canadian poet and critic who lives in England.
Life[]
Jones was born in Weston, Ontario, a suburb of Toronto.[1] He holds dual Canadian and Greek citizenship.[2] He attended Lawrence Park Collegiate in Toronto.
He earned a Ph.D. in English and creative writing from the University of Manchester.[2] He has live in Manchester, England, since 2005.[3]
He has taught at York University, Toronto; University of Bolton; University of Leeds; and John Moores University, Liverpool.[3]
Jones edited New Canadian Poetry, Introductions: Poets present poets, and Opening the Island, Anne Compton's debut collection of poetry. His work has appeared in Descant, the Malahat Review,and Queen Street Quarterly.[4]
He and fellow expatriate Canadian poet Todd Swift edited Modern Canadian Poets: An anthology (Carcanet, 2010), which The Globe and Mail called "the most exhaustive and important anthology of Canadian poetry in two decades."[5]
He lives in Manchester, England.
Recognition[]
His debut collection of poetry, Nothing Fell Today But Rain, was nominated for the 2003 Governor General's Award for English language poetry.[2]
