Life[]

Sar­gant served as Di­rect­or of Ed­u­ca­tion for Bri­tain’s Tran­svaal and Or­ange Ri­ver Col­o­ny in what is now South Af­ri­ca.[1]. He was notable for his policy of introducing English in the South African educational system in the early years of the 20th century, as Director of Education for the Transvaal and Orange River Colony under Alfred Milner, and in the aftermath of the war. The Sargant Report (1905) was important for the future of education in the Transvaal.

Recognition[]

His poem "The Cuckoo Wood" was published in the Georgian Poetry, 1911-1912 anthology.
